The core purpose of this role is to support the UK Mass business John Frieda & Biore) and the Category Managers by providing timely, accurate, insightful and actionable category and market reporting, through the extraction and analysis of multiple data sources, as well as optimising category range and space in the Grocery and High Street environment to drive category growth and value for Kao, the retailers and the shoppers.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract starting in January/ February of 2017. As such, please note we can not accept applications of individuals due to graduate in summer 2017.


  • Delivering monthly category reports for use within Kao organisation, Domestic, Global and EMEA.
  • Extensive analysis of complex data to give insight into category and consumer trends for the UK Category, Commercial and Marketing teams (by the use of Retailer loyalty data/Nielsen/Kantar/Brandview).
  • Provide insight to support key business projects and ad-hoc requests from business leaders.
  • Analysing retailer planograms and in store ranges to deliver accurate share of shelf and store distribution reporting.
  • Supporting the Category Managers with retailer range reviews including pre and post analysis.
  • Ensure understanding of the category strategy and link to day to day business by reviewing NPD performance and competitor benchmarking.
  • Working with the internal Market Research team to ensure accurate coding of all products and segments in the Nielsen databases.


  • Must possess strong analytical skills through experience or academic experience. Desirable: Category Management; Insight/Data analysis; FMCG
  • BSc/BA hons degree or equivalent. One year placement in industry is preferred, particularly in FMCG
  • Punctual delivery of category reporting in line with the requirements of the business
  • Ensuring analysis is meaningful and actionable – possess strong analytical skills
  • Managing multiple requests for data and analytical support at the same time
  • Good organisation, time management skills and ability to prioritise
  • A high sense of intellectual curiosity
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and the ability to work autonomously
