The candidate will be a key member of the Management Accounting Team and assist with all aspects of the month end close process, planning process and undertake business partner duties for a combination of retail channel leaders and cost centre owners. The successful candidate will support the Senior Manager and Finance Director with ad hoc financial analysis and Kao EMEA led projects.

This is a 9-12 months fixed term contract.


  • Perform month end duties in a timely and accurate manner, assisting with the production of the MB Board pack and reports for our parent company, Kao.
  • Prepare and upload of month end journals including prepayments and accruals.
  • Perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of process and reporting.
  • Produce timely and insightful variance analysis commentary.
  • Deliver monthly cost centre / profit centre analysis that actively challenges the business

  • Business partner Retail Channel to ensure that commercial and finance objectives are met:

  • Provide timely and accurate reporting packs
  • Host monthly P&L reviews ensuring that controllable costs are managed.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis where necessary (new locations, commission schemes, headcount, productivity, CAPEX etc.)

  • Business partner functional heads to ensure that the goals of the Global business are achieved in a collaborative manner:

  • Provision of timely and appropriate analysis.
  • Proactive identification and recommendation of business opportunities.

  • Support MB Global forecast and budget processes:

  • Annual budgeting cycle
  • Balance of year forecasts
  • Mid-month forecast

  • Support the Finance Director and Molton Brown Leadership Team with ad hoc analysis and strategy support.
  • Liaise as required with Kao HQ on reporting, budgeting and forecasting issues and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Liaise as required with Molton Brown audit partners, both internal and external.
  • Proactively identify process improvements and efficiencies, working collaboratively with other team members to deliver improvements.


  • Educated to a degree level
  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA), with retail experience and preferably exposure to international business
  • Confident using SAP would be highly beneficial
  • Experience of working in a matrix management environment with international/global exposure would be beneficial
  • Commercially astute; has the ability to see the bigger picture and interact with senior colleagues across functions and countries
  • A self-starter with proactive drive to deliver within challenging timelines and able to maintain a high attention to detail when under pressure
  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills and a willingness to adapt
  • An analytical and inquisitive mindset and a track record of delivering continuous improvements to processes, systems and reporting
  • Self-motivated with a drive and enthusiasm to succeed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent understanding of accounting principles and their application
  • Experience in completing monthly management reporting duties in a retail business, preferably with omni-channel and international experience
  • Strong systems experience and mindset, ideally a good understanding of SAP and experience using BPC. An advanced Excel user with the ability to quickly manipulate large amounts of data
