Overview

The role exists as the first point of contact for all visitors and callers to the Academy. Role holder must be able to provide a warm welcome and efficient friendly service at all times. Effective telephone techniques, switchboard supervision, ownership of model booking process, retail selling skills and helping the Academy to look its best and uphold the reputation of London’s world-class centre of Education.

Responsibilities

  • Reception - To be able to meet and greet all visitors with a warm welcome and ideally by name. Able to take messages and ensure they are passed on according to their urgency. Able to cover occasional late nights and weekends, assisting ‘signing-in’ of visitors and hosting at evening training events on a rota basis with other colleague on front desk.
  • Ownership of model booking process - Monthly model search (increase by 4 per month by approaching local businesses including hotels, offices, restaurants and retailers), uphold current model database ensuring correct models are allocated to the correct seminars. Ensure global skin testing policies are followed. Any model feedback to be passed onto seminar leader/ academy educator.
  • Course Admin/Occupancy - ensuring all attendees are marked in, any no-shows are actioned and any problems are resolved using own initiative. To support Academy Manager and Technical Field Coordinator whenever possible, increasing responsibilities during holiday cover.
  • Academy standards - Ensure the Academy meets world-class standards in presentation and cleanliness
    • Liaise with Academy Manager on catering requirements for events
    • Assessing stock levels in the retail area and liaise with Academy Manager where appropriate to action any maintenance, including vending machine.
    Ensure dishwasher is emptied in the morning, fridge is inspected daily, and waiting area is kept fit for purpose at all times.
  • General - Ensure that technical knowledge is always up to date by attending relevant courses, reading all company literature, trade press and networking regularly with colleagues.
    To perform any other duties as reasonably instructed by the Academy Manager.

Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE level, or hairdressing equivalent, NVQ Level 1/2
  • Ideally hairdressing background and can answer basic queries
  • Ideally has front of house experience.
  • knowledge of social media, either personally or professionally
  • Strong command of English language
