Overview

Kao is in the middle of setting up a Finance Shared Service Center (SSC) for the EMEA region. To further support the set-up and the continuous success of our FSSC in the Netherlands, we are looking for aDirector Tax and Accounting EMEA.

As Director Tax and Accounting you are the point of contact and coordinator in EMEA for all topics and issues related to the implementation and/or interpretation of IFRS accounting standards and principles, European tax regulations and Transfer Price across countries. For these topics, the position is responsible to achieve and maintain regional compliance requirements.

In addition, for the DACH+ region, you will be responsible for the preparation and submission of all statutory and fiscal requirements and maintaining the relationship with local tax consultants and external auditors. Finally, for the above region, you are responsible for the successful implementation of the Finance transformation projects as strategically decided by the Corporate or Regional Management. The position is based in Amersfoort and has an extensive travel component.

Responsibilities

  • You assure that the SSC is compliant with statutory and local requirements. You study existing and new legislations, anticipate on future legislation, enforce adherence to requirements, advise management and SSC on needed actions. You are also responsible for the development and execution of regional compliance for JSOX, IFRS, TP and internal policies. For these topics you become the Regional point of contact for KAO Japan and other external and internal stakeholders;
  • For the countries/ledgers assigned, in your position as Director Tax and Accounting you are responsible for all compliance activities including but not limited to the statutory closing process, tax and statutory filings/deadlines, liaison with internal and external auditors and tax advisors. In doing this, it is expected that the role becomes a customer of the Finance SSC and participates to the improvement of the efficiency of the Finance processes. Finally, it is expected that period B/S are conducted in cooperation to the SSC;
  • You will be the implementing the finance transformation strategy within the countries of resp, including SSC implementation, global standardization of processes, policies and system configurations. Cooperate with the SSC for the implementation of process improvement initiatives and to achieve efficiency targets. You are also the Business Partner and local interface for all issues/questions related to back office and finance supporting functions managed by the SSC;
  • You oversee KAO group reporting via EGIS and point of contact for SSC and Tokyo. You are also responsible for the Salon inventory eliminations adjustments, including monthly reporting, forecasting and budgeting and the review and approval of all accruals in MEC (B/S- and P&L-Impact) for the Region;
  • You are the local contact and authorized approver for all banks and banking transactions;
  • You are responsible to maintain proper control environment in all Countries of responsibility. You establish monitors and enforces policies and procedures. Protects assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls;
  • Project work as required also at EMEA level as assigned by management.

The role will lead a small team of 1 or 2 qualified accountants with extensive technical knowledge in regional tax, TP and consolidation.

Qualifications

  • You are a qualified accountant and hold a Master degree in Finance;
  • You have at least 10 years professional experience in the field of accounting, tax and TP and in an International business environment;
  • You have at least 5 year experience in IFRS implementation;
  • Experience in working with SSC is preferred.

Furthermore you have:

  • Knowledge of ERP systems and strong IT proficiencies;
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently. Result oriented;
  • Language skills: English fluent, preferably good understanding of the German language;
  • Experience with, and full understanding of, internal control structures;
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and process mapping software (Visio, IndustryPrint).
