Reporting into the Senior Director, Business Transformation HCD & Communications, this position will be responsible for providing expert employment legal advice and managing the legal processes for matters identified under the RISE 2020 Transformation Program.

This role will be responsible for the EMEA region, with a specific focus on German law and workers Council negotiations and processes.


  • Provide expert and strategic legal advice to The RISE 2020 Team/Management on all employment law matters;
  • Represent the business at works council/union/employee representative discussions
  • Evaluate the impact of any decision/course of action;
  • Identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks;
  • Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations;
  • Draft agreements and other legal documents;
  • Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders;
  • Work closely with the local HCD teams;
  • Closely and effectively cooperate with outside legal counsel as necessary;
  • Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization;
  • Conduct your work with integrity and responsibility;
  • Maintain current knowledge of alterations in the Employment legislation.


  • Proven general counselling experience in a business environment;
  • In-depth knowledge of German Employment Law;
  • Extensive experience in dealings with German Workers counsels;
  • Preferred to have practical experiences of other European employment laws;
  • Ability to develop legal strategies;
  • Well-versed in how business operate with financial acumen;
  • High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas;
  • Experience of dealing with conflict at all levels ;
  • Experience with working in a change inverse environment ;
  • Excellent judgement and analytical skills;
  • First class interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills;
  • Ability to anticipate legal issues or risks and to “see around the corner”;
  • Fluent in German with excellent command of English language;
  • Fully qualified German lawyer (First and Second German State Exam).
