The Salon Education Manager will execute in-field education and lead education initiatives for the Goldwell and KMS product assortment within an assigned territory (or other area as requested by Management) by partnering with Key Relationship Managers, District Sales Manager, District Salon Consultants and Goldwell / KMS artists.


Work with DSCs:

  • Co-ordinate field programs
  • Taking initiative in decision making regarding education programs in respective territories
  • Perform cold calls on high potential non-Goldwell salons with DSC’s
  • Identify and communicate potential sales opportunities within the assigned territory (and outside should they arise)

Reporting of Field Activity:

  • Completing bi-annual needs assessment in each territory
  • Completing monthly education reports (how many field and in-salon, projects, future plans/needs)
  • Assist in recruitment and deployment of new Goldwell and KMS Artists in designated territory as needed
  • Co-ordinate update trainings with Sr. EM and Training Team

Personal Activity Expectations/Time Management:

  • Maximum 8 hours home office time per week
  • Conduct 10 in-salon classes per month
  • Top 10-salon support visits TBD
  • Contribute recommendations and input for the development and/or improvement of existing and future programs on an ongoing basis
  • Attend meetings upon request

Other Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Store education with in territory
  • Assist and support in Shows within territory
  • Venue contracts approved by Sr. EM
  • Comply with all Kao US policies and procedures including Health & Safety
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Sr. EM



  • Active Cosmetology or Barbers license (must have had for a minimum of 5 years)


  • 5 years hairstyling experience
  • Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office (Windows environment)


  • Fluent in English languages
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating good grammar
  • Excellent “platform” (presentation) skills with ability to answer questions with confidence and ease
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • Strong Interpersonal (people relations) skills
  • Professional appearance and behavior
  • Self-motivated with ability to motivate and influence others

Physical Demands:

  • Half of time spent standing, often for long durations during training delivery
  • Long periods of sitting required during extensive travel within territory
  • When in the home-based office, activity is limited to those of other office positions
  • Must be able to lift/move supplies/materials a minimum of 30 lbs

  • Strong organizational skills i.e. must be able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Practical creativity and artistry required
  • Ability to absorb and quickly retain contents of various training programs
  • High flexibility and ability to manage rapid change effectively
