Overview:

This is a regional position and can be located anywhere in Massachusetts or Connecticut.

The Senior Education Manager for all channels is a key role for the strategic planning, execution and management of Education in the Distribution Relationship channel with Kao salon’s’ biggest customer.

This position serves as a critical link between Kao Salon and the Distributor for the strategic planning of education programming and resources, in support of sales goals. The role is essential to the sales cycle by delivering the best in class training to salons and stylists and to ensure ongoing education support. The key to success in this distribution strategy will be to have a thorough knowledge of KPSS Brands and programs with the ability to train and develop education resources (Education Managers, Technical Trainers) in order to deliver best in class education to salons.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Education Manager will contribute to the following Key Distribution Drivers in the following manner:

  • GROW: Work to develop and implement rewarding trainings that will deliver organic growth against company sales objectives through comprehensive sales and business training.
  • GAIN: Position will support our sales organization by bringing advanced sales consultant capabilities to new salons, as well as a comprehensive business-building curriculum. The key to success in this distribution strategy will be to have a thorough understanding of what skilss a sales consultant needs to be successful

RETAIN: Work with sales and marketing to understand why salons potentially exit the brand and then develop retention strategies, through education, to retain.

  • Direct Supervision and development of District Education Managers.
  • Partner with Director of Sales for planning and implementation of strategy for channel.
  • Ensure the strategic and effective presentation of Kao Salon products, programs and materials in order for Distributors to perform the proper technical training and make investment decisions to maximize Goldwell and KMS California business.
  • Strategic planning and execution, with team of technical training meetings for Distributor Educators, both Full-time (FTE) and Part-time (GTA & SCT).
  • Partner with Distributors in their selection and usage of Educators.
  • Collect and analyze activity reports on a weekly basis as required to the Education Activities Analyst & Administrator.
  • Effective utilization of Kao Salon resources for Distributors’ planning and execution.
  • Strategic planning of all educational activities within the Distributorship with DSM.
  • Effectively utilize all Distributor support budgets (BBF) in conjunction with Sales partners.
  • Assist and support RSM for Distributor Sales with Distributor Sales meetings, and lead when the circumstances arise.
  • Work with Distributor Sales Consultants and educators in their territory.
  • Work with Market Leader Salons and chains to maximize Goldwell and KMS California business.
  • Coordinate aspects of beauty shows and/or Distributor Store education: policy/procedures, site selection, booth layout, models, staff selection, budget, etc.
  • Submit accurate monthly reports by the 1st of each month to National Education Field Director and Education Activities Analyst & Administrator.
  • Track and analyze budgets for education activity for Division.
  • Track and analyze all T&E spending for team.
  • Assist National Education Department as needed.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of our industry, competitors, KPSS products and maintain a current Cosmetology license and develop the skills needed to perform duties and assignments.

Qualifications:

  • PASSION for the Professional Beauty Industry and a desire to help professional hairdressers grow their skills and their business
  • CREATIVE mindset that will contribute new ideas and strategies to help drive KMS and GOLDWELL further faster to the hairdresser through education.
  • INNOVATIVE attitude that will continually search for new and exciting ways to create a better experience for the hairdresser and their clients.
  • Must be certified and licensed by the State Board of Cosmetic Art in the field of Cosmetology.

  • Minimum of 10 years field experience as a licensed cosmetologist.

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in education management position.
  • Basic knowledge in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint to create, maintain, update and properly format documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

  • May require 40% to 60% U.S. and international travel by way of car, bus, train, air, boat and/or mass transit.
  • Position regularly requires prolonged sitting, standing, sitting, walking and occasional bending.

  • May require lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds.
