Associate Director Front Office Architecture

Overview

The FO Architect Lead is responsible for evaluation and selection of architectures across the entire front office set of applications, including defining future state architecture requirements and standards based on business needs and market leading practices. This role has a technical bias but will need to actively interface with Business Relationship Manager(s) and the business to understand business requirements and service delivery needs. This role has 3+ direct reports and manages multiple third party service delivery deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Architecture Definition - Defines solution architectures which includes evaluation, selection, and integration of necessary technical components to create solution designs that support the defined functional and non-functional requirements across several complex solution areas.
  • Governance - Ensures service provider delivery adheres to architecture standards and business requirements. Oversees the development and/or review of future state application architectures in an organized and cohesive manner using business and industry accepted frameworks. Ensures that designed or reviewed solutions conform to architectural requirements such as scalability, maintainability, reliability, extensibility, usability and security.
  • Technical Solution Design - Interfaces with Relationship Managers to translate business requirements into technical solution designs, which may include conceptual, logical, and physical views of the architecture. Application architecture portfolio management in high activity or very complex areas.
  • Process Review Board Execution - Participates in weekly Process Review Board Meetings with other Application Architects, BRM's, 3rd party providers, and business resources. Assist in optimizing the scope, benefits, and risks of proposed projects.
  • Ensure Outstanding Business Support - Engages in the SDLC at key points (e.g. design, testing, etc) and ensures quality of system integrations. Willingness to be "on call" and provide support outside normal business hours with occasional domestic and international travel.
  • People Management - Responsible for leading/managing a team of 3+ direct reports and oversight of 5+ 3rd party deliverables that support multiple functional/technical areas.
  • EIS Department Management - Member of the EIS Leadership team responsible for day-to-day department management and medium/long term strategy development and execution. Also responsible for budgeting and making staffing decisions.
  • Manage 2 individual contributors and/or 3rd party contractors.

Qualifications

  • University Bachelor's Degree in MIS or Computer Engineering/Science required
  • Masters preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in the following:
  • Deep knowledge of technical architectures of Digital Marketing, eCommerce, Retail and Sales (Omni-Commerce)
  • Experience managing a team of direct reports and/or 3rd party deliverables and mentoring them for skills improvement
  • Experience using a structured application delivery methodology
  • Experience in IT management, strategy development, budgeting, staffing, etc
  • Architecture and Solution Design / Requirements Management
  • Ensure security is designed in as part of any application adhering to enterprise standards.
  • Software Lifecycle Delivery
  • Release and Deployment Management
  • Third party deliverables management and governance
  • Experienced with IT processes, business operations and technology, including support of enterprise change management.
