Graphic Designer

Overview

The Graphic Designer position is for a design professional with proven skills in performing outstanding design and design development capabilities, ideally in a beauty company or agency with beauty clients, but not necessary. This role is responsible for the graphic design of all visual communication including social posts, website page designs, website updates, A-Plus content, copywriting, in-store/POS materials, video editing and possible shooting, promotional packaging, photography and photography editing/retouching, as well as miscellaneous visual design needs for Kao. This role is responsible for delivering a smooth transition from conceptual design to delineation, through commercialization/execution of the design for all media types. This role is integral to the Creative Marketing function as the creator of the visual design and must take direction from various partners such as Global Marketing, Regional Marketing, Trade Marketing, Corporate, Sales, Internal Associate Design Managers, Design Managers including anyone in a leadership role. This role will report to the Creative Director that sits in the US but will have a "dotted-line "manager in the region where hired, for all day-to-day tasks and functions.

Responsibilities

  • Creating visual design/communication for all types of media on Mac lap-top computer to fulfill each creative request. Must meet timing and provide accurate deliverables to person requesting the creative work. Must document and track all work.
  • Meets with and presents to multiple, various roles to fulfill design brief or request. Works in Smartflow (digital workflow software) and AEM (digital asset management) to organize work flow and gain approvals if necessary. Uploads digital assets to AEM. Training will be provided. Must have a weekly check-in meeting with Creative Director/US.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design or Visual Communication (An MBA is a plus but not necessary to be successful for this position)

  • Must be proficient with all design software such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Powerpoint. Must have video editing capabilities and some photography and copywriting experience. Must be fluent in OUTLOOK and practice email etiquette
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a graphic designer. Consumer Product Goods (CPG) experience is a plus but not necessary. Designing for beauty brands is a plus but not necessary. Agency experience is a plus but not necessary

  • Must understand the entire design process from concept to commercialization/execution. Must understand the inputs and deliverables for each phase of design. Must have an outstanding portfolio with a wide range of multi-platform and multi-media designs. Must have excellent presentation skills and excellent communication skills

  • Must understand the design process from conceptual to commercialization/execution for packaging and printed materials

  • Must be able to explain and present work in a professional manner to person that requested the creative. – May present to peers and leaders, however this position is NOT required to influence or persuade in anyway

  • Must understand the basic differences, possibilities and limitations between different types of printing processes and digital assets

  • Must be able to adapt artwork for any media into a different format or size for a different supplier or vendor

  • Must be a generally creative person that has multiple creative skills that can be used in an office environment
