Instrumentation and Electrical Technician- Chemical Plant

KSA is currently recruiting for a Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Technician II, based in High Point, NC facility. This is a challenging, individual contributor position for a large chemical processing facility. Daily essential duties include:

  • Work daily Monday through Friday, 7am – 3pm. Some on-call and overtime is expected
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to repairing, maintaining, installing and troubleshooting industrial equipment, systems and components
  • Must be able to qualify in procedures requiring Lockout/Tagout of equipment, follows repair procedures
  • Performs, or assists, in routine maintenance functions as may be required on all equipment and systems per procedures as necessary.
  • Assesses equipment or system problem identification and recommends solutions
  • Maintain labor and work history reporting into CMMS work-order system on daily basis
  • Cleans, maintains plant maintenance areas, equipment regularly to permit environmental cleanliness and efficiency


Candidates for this position must have:

  • Prior experience as a Instrumentation and Electrical Technician in a manufacturing facility
  • Ability to work in a high performance work system with minimum supervision
  • Five or more years of work experience or equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience, high school diploma or equivalent
  • Exposure to industrial DCS and PLC systems
  • Experience performing calibrations on transmitters, flowmeters, valves, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic motor controls
  • Knowledge of 120/208/480V systems
  • Knowledge of 24/120V control systems
  • Ability to use various test equipment and troubleshoot complex electrical systems
  • Knowledge of Variable Speed Drives
  • Familiar with various valves and operation
  • Ability to read maintenance literature printed in English required
  • Prior experience with and ability to read various blueprints is required
  • Basic Microsoft Office computer skills required
  • Ability to read and follow SDS sheets
  • Experience with industrial instruments
  • Must have valid driving license

The ideal candidate would also have the following skills:

  • Two-year technical degree in electronics or instrumentation and possess an ISA CCST Level 1 certification is preferred
  • Knowledge of NEC and classifications

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Ability to stand for up to 7 hours in an 8 hour shift along with working at heights is required. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, working overhead, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be certified medically fit to wear respirator. Incumbent may be required to work in conditions where hazardous material and /or toxic fumes could be present. Additionally, incumbent will be exposed to areas of high heat, loud noise, steam, combustible gases, rotating machinery and other conditions normally encounter in an operating generation facility.
