Senior Product Manager

Overview

Business management and brand ownership for the largest share of the John Frieda portfolio. Reporting into the UK Marketing Manager, this role will collaborate across functions to ensure campaigns and retailer activity have the optimal product and consumer insight at the heart. Regular data analysis to keep on the pulse of performance and identify growth opportunities is key, whilst working with EMEA and Global teams to inform and drive the innovation pipeline factoring in UK market needs.

Responsibilities

  • Owning brand strategy and overseeing marketing activity for key strategic pillars within the John Frieda portfolio. Leveraging understanding of consumer needs and behaviour, as well as wider market trends. Strong collaboration with the Communications team, helping to construct briefs and evaluate campaign performance, ensuring we are aligned and deliver on our objectives.
  • Collaborating with the Sales and Shopper Marketing teams to unlock opportunities for growth in retailers. Helping to plan and execute differentiated retailer activities to deliver on mutual objectives; factoring in the individual retailer strategies and shopper behaviour. Aligning on strongest possible product mix, and communication at point of purchase. When necessary, joining National Account Managers attending retailer meetings to present marketing plans and pitch listing new product.
  • Innovation planning; working with EMEA and Global teams during Stagegate process to ensure NPD proposition delivers on UK market needs. Working with Category and Sales teams to forecast size of prize and define the launch strategy. Seeding trends and inspiration to Global marketing to inform innovation pipeline.
  • P&L responsibility for the pillars/projects within this role, accountable for ensuring efficient marketing spend to drive both sales and profit. Ensuring we drive ROI within our budget objectives and managing the complete purchase order, invoice and payment process internally with finance and accounts departments, as well as with external agencies.
  • Regular data analysis to keep on the pulse of performance and identify opportunities to drive profitable growth. Sharing performance and learnings with the wider UK team as well as monthly updates to global marketing and Japanese leadership.

Qualifications

  • BSc/BA hons degree or equivalent.
  • Continuous curiousity. An on-the-pulse mind-set, keeping up to date with current affairs, trending topics, and other brand activity to enhance creativity and idea generation.
  • Never-ending passion. Passionate about brands and marketing, always rooted in an intrinsic understanding of the consumer.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills. Ensuring vision and direction is clearly presented and understood by all internal and external parties. Adapting style dependent on audience or situation. Demonstrating empathy to connect with audience and gain buy in.
  • A pro-active self starter. Accustomed to instigating a large proportion of their daily tasks through an entrepreneurial and curious/analytical approach. This role will single handily have to identify, analyse and address a range of initiatives.
  • Collaborative solution seeker. Constructive in giving feedback and focused on providing solutions by anticipating issues and generating ideas by collaborating with the wider team.
  • Ability to multi task with many live projects, whilst staying very focused on the immediate tasks at hand.

  • Although based in the London office, this role requires a moderate degree of travel within the UK, to meet with and present to our retailer partners. Occasionally travel outside of the UK is necessary when working with Global and EMEA partners. This can sometimes require staying away from home for 1-2 nights, or travel plans that can start earlier and finish later than the normal office hours.
