Responsibilities

KSA is currently recruiting for a Waste Water/Utilities Operator II, based in High Point, NC facility. This is a challenging, individual contributor position for a large chemical processing facility. Daily essential duties include:

  • Inspect, maintain and troubleshoot the waste water biological treatment plant
  • Maintain campus-wide utility systems to include boilers, and all pressurized system (steam, fire suppression and compressed air)
  • Collect and test water and sewage samples
  • Record meter, gauge readings and operational data
  • Operate and perform routine maintain of physical plant equipment to process and dispose of sewage
  • Follow all applicable regulations
  • Ensure safety standards are met
  • Ability to work 10 hour rotating shift and be on call 24hrs during normal shift days

Qualifications

Candidates for this position must have:

  • Must have a high school diploma
  • Three years prior industrial utilities experience or five plus years waste water treatment experience
  • Prior forklift experience
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Demonstrated knowledge with industrial boilers and pressurized systems (steam and compressed air)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of various types of pumps, fittings, and valves
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge of piping systems, basic hydraulics, and rotating equipment
  • Possess Grade 1 Waste Water Treatment Certification within 1st year

The ideal candidate would also have the following skills:

  • Five plus years' experience with industrial utilities (compressed air, fire suppression systems, steam, etc.)
  • Grade 1 Waste Water Treatment Certification
  • North Carolina State Fire Sprinkler Maintenance Technician License
  • Knowledge of Sequential Batch Reactor systems (SBR)

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Ability to stand for up to 8 hours in an 10 hour shift is required. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, working overhead and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be certified medically fit to wear respirator. Incumbent may be required to work in conditions where hazardous material and /or toxic fumes could be present. Additionally, incumbent will be exposed to areas of high heat, loud noise, steam, combustible gases, rotating machinery and other conditions normally encounter in an operating generation facility.
